Bad pro mix?

Used pro mix for awhile but ive been having nothing but trouble with a recently purchased bail of pro mix hp. Holds water like Smeagol ("my preciousss") ,causing ph issues. Can I add more perlite or should I just chuck it? Other than coco, whats a good alternative?

I think I'm gonna be switching to coco too, someone was telling me Peat Is becoming a scarce resource and coco/hydro may be the more eco-friendly choice.
My local hydro store ran out of promix last month and is on back order, so I picked up some potting soil and it's meh

i prefer to add more perlite to the promix HP, works very well
