MOM: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
I’ve been meaning to review this mom as there isn’t much info on them. I work long hours and have a family so trying to find the time to do a nice review in the preferred format just doesn’t work for me right now. So I’ll just give a quick honest opinion of my experience.
I originally ordered a gram of each of the strains they carry. The pricing and claim of being organic is what sparked my interest. I can’t comment too much on all the strains as a gram isn’t enough to get a good idea of what it’s like. I will however say they all smoked decent and got me high(even the Royal Highness which claims 1:1 thc/cbd). All strains showed a good level of Amber trichomes under the spot scope showing ripeness which gave long lasting effects from the high.
I did reorder an oz of white widow and 16 grams of northern berry. The white widow is hit and miss with the ash colour but it all burns well, some buds just taste better than the rest. I have been smoking the white widow all day everyday for a week now and I really like the long lasting mellow but strong high. I don’t get much of a burnout from it and it gets me high joint after joint. Bulk pricing is great and may be why they recently sold out.
The Norther Berry has been my nightly weed for the last week, just finished it last night. This stuff is pretty nice imo. Price is great and they offer qp’s For $400, a steal of a deal for this stuff. Burns good, greyish ash, consistent joint after joint. The blueberry flavour is weak but it’s there. The Northern Lights definitely comes out though, really nice high that can and did lead to some funky psychedelic visuals. If I didn’t have so much weed coming next week I’d order some more.
Rating: 8/10
This is not your typical mom. They grow what they sell and as such they don’t operate like most have come to expect. After my first order I didn’t receive any kind of confirmation that my order was received but a day or two later my payment was accepted. So I emailed them asking if everything was alright. They emailed back to assure me my order had been shipped but offered no tracking number. Second order I didn’t even ask if everything was ok and just trusted my order would arrive, and it did. So they lose points on communication for sure but the price to quality of their buds makes up for it and I’m sure they will improve.
Note: This is typical organic weed, it will not knock you out with the smell but it does deliver on a nice clean high that doesn’t have you feeling like a bag of shit from a long day of toking.

3Sorry, no pictures. A great quality photo does add somewhat to a review but from many years of experience the look of a bud doesn’t give you any idea of the quality of the high that ultimately is what everyone wants.xsinx wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 3:25 pm Please follow the review template and provide a picture as well![]()

4Not arguing with that, but it's in the rules here, I'll just move it out to general since it doesn't qualify as a review.R.R.Toking wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 4:03 pmSorry, no pictures. 6You have the power to adjust the rules if you agree...
It's totally a review. A lack of photo does not make it not a review, it just makes it less complete of a review. I read reviews for the written info, not photos, photos are a nice extra but never what make me buy.
Re: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
7I thought so too but I don’t really care where it gets put just needed to write it down as I’ve had a few people ask me about them.Keyll wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 7:22 pmYou have the power to adjust the rules if you agree...

Re: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
8So true! I appreciate your info on them anyway, I've never ordered but I've looked at their products a few times, and I'm glad to get some insight. The White Widow sounds amazing.
Re: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
9I personally like the Walter White better, the high was just as uplifting but also made me happy, like out of nowhere I’m just smiling away. I just like that the Widow is so affordable, not that any of their prices aren’t already haha.Keyll wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 8:20 pm So true! Re: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
10I've got some Walter White from Speedgreens right now and definitely find it more energizing than White Widows I've tried in the past, though I have none to compare and it's a different grower... I did enjoy the Walter White I tried from SG but it's the only time I've ever tried the strain! maybe I'll get a chance to try it from GGM and compare. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
I do love when a strain makes me happy! I like to think it's not the strain making me happy at all but in fact that I'm just a normally happy person and the weed is helping me crush the symptoms that don't always let it show. When I frame it that way in my mind, it helps me become happier throughout all of my life, because then I think about my sad depression moments as a symptom, not my reality, and the happiness and smiling as my reality that's veiled by my illness.
I've come a very long way psychologically since I started using cannabis, and I believe it helped me become a better human being even when I'm not using.
I'm also really high right now...

Re: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
11I think I was born depressed, not really joking but kind of. Cannabis saved my life in so many ways and was a definite catalyst into self exploration. I too have come a long way. I like your thinking though about cannabis bringing out what is already there, been my opinion for many years as well.Keyll wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 8:57 pm I've got some Walter White from Speedgreens right now and definitely find it more energizing than White Widows I've tried in the past, though I have none to compare and it's a different grower... I’m burnt out from some free cbd strain I got awhile ago, not really enjoying it, gonna fire up some more Widow

Re: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
13This is another organic spot I had been considering, thanks for reviewing them!
So, just to clarify, the more amber the trichome, the more mature/ripe the bud? And does the amber colour follow the milkiness of trichomes? That is to say, they go from clear, to milky, to amber as the flower ripens?

Yes you are exactly right, but there is a point that is reached where it becomes too ripe and thc and other Cannabinoids start to degrade.
Re: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
15Interesting, so is there some way to tell when bud is over-ripe?R.R.Toking wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 9:23 pm

Love to see a more detailed post about the ripeness of buds! This is fascinating, a subject I didn't know about!

Re: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
17Yeah, from everything I have read optimal ripeness is when 25-30% of trichomes have turned amber, after that they slowly start to degrade. This is also up to personal preference, the more amber trichomes the more of a sleepy/couch lock effect you can have. I have smoked over ripe buds before and it just knocked me out instantly when the crop before was very uplifting.MirkaLane wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 9:29 pmInteresting, so is there some way to tell when bud is over-ripe?R.R.Toking wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 9:23 pm

21I'd love to see one as well.. I had a grow buddy send me pic examples and show me once, but I need a spot scope before I can really comment on that sort of thing in my reviews.R.R.Toking wrote: Sat Nov 24, 2018 9:53 pm

22Hey R.R. thanks for the kind review. Always appreciate knowing what our customers think and where we can improve! Glad to know you appreciated the produce, cheers... ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)
Regarding ripeness, my understanding is that the cannabinoid profile shifts as the plant gets riper, and that you can control the effects somewhat by timing your harvest. So, if you are looking for more sedate effects, you can let it ripen longer, while if you want a more cerebral high, earlier is better. In this way, an indica could have effects more like a sativa if harvested early, or a sativa could be more like an indica if harvested later. The THCa is actually converting to CBN later on, which gives the sedate effects. And yes, the trichomes turn from clear, to milky, to amber as they mature. Our rule of thumb for harvest time is usually aiming for the balance point, not too early, not too late. We don't mind letting it go a few extra days to get some amber in the trichs, as I think most growers are pretty eager to harvest and miss out on peak ripeness by harvesting too early. Costs a few extra bucks, but worth it for peak quality.
Thanks again friend, be well!

Thanks for the input on ripeness, always like to hear from the growers themselves about any areas of cannabis.
Re: Gaia’s Garden Medicinal
24Thank you so much for the education! That was a perfectly succint summary of how the plant ripens.GaiasGardenMedicinal wrote: Sun Nov 25, 2018 12:19 am Hey R.R. thanks for the kind review. 25Thanks for the post, good idea as you're the only one to mention them anywhere haha.
I wanna add to this that I emailed Gaia's Garden asking for photos of the white widow and they obliged, I haven't yet but intend to order from them soon.

26I’ve tried all their strains, White Widow shows it’s sold out but I could help offer a suggestion if you tell me what you are looking for. I really like the Northern Berry just because it does induce some psychedelic visuals. I also liked the Walter White as it really gave me a happy high. The Royal Highness is the best cbd strain I have tried so far, very interesting taste. It was all pretty decent and the high from all of them is clean and doesn’t burn you out like a lot of weed does.Kaseyyeah wrote: Sun Nov 25, 2018 7:50 am Thanks for the post, good idea as you're the only one to mention them anywhere haha.
