I know that over in the US, contaminated/fake carts are a big problem: these were usually sold at small convenience stores and other unlicensed producers.

What is the general rule of safety when it comes to ordering carts through MOMs? Any tips to be safe? Brand/website recommendations?

pg and vg are in carts like nicotene vapes up to you if you think thats healthy which is usally added to shatter after using a thinning agent, at first I did this and moved on
actually carts not the best you like concentrated get a vape mod battery and a sai top its like a portable dab rig in a erig... can buy on some vapecafe store or called something like that
also watch fake terps and what % they use can be bad for your lungs usually in distillate carts

so its better to get a cart that has just sauce rosin or live resin as an ingredient, enigma is a great brand for these.

The above is good advice. Avoid no-name cartridges or oddball brand names. Heavily diluted carts "flow" you can tell as the distillate is more fluid; if you go with a solid brand (not to promote ours) like Sovrin the distillate is lab tested and solid, eg., it does not flow almost at all. Live resin carts & htfse are the way to go, in my personal opinion. For me it's convenience of the carts versus dab rigs - oddassumptions points are well taken however.
I love the pens especially sovrin, the terps are bold and they take quality super seriously. Watch for lab tests.
Enigma is also a good brand; Secret Garden Extracts (another favourite of mine). We don't carry those but they are definitely nice. Like with anything you want to stick to known quality producers.
The US carts have a weird taste to them it's easy to tell they are fake both by the shitty taste and the flow of the distillate. Avoid those like the plague.
Pure ones - Sovrin, Enigma, Secret Garden, and Diamond (htfse & live resin) are all bang-on lab tested pure with plant-sourced terps or real terps. We would recommend our site of course but, lots of other MoMs carry high quality stuff. Those brands are easy to find and have been long established well reviewed.
