Going to the house of commons, Since it's G7 don't expect the bill to be accepted until Wednesday next week then royal assent could be as soon as Thursday/Friday since summer starts on June 21 and Trudeau always claimed summer it could be on June 21 directly since house of commons go in vacation around that date too.

So was this just a vote to get a few of the laws around it figured out? I'd really appreciate if someone could explain this in laymans terms. I try to follow it but some of it makes my head spin lol.

The senate has to approve a bill before it can go to royal assent(final step) in House of Commons. So MP's draw up a bill. They send it to the Senate for approval and for them to offer amendments. Once the Senate suggests amendments, they are voted on by the senate. If the senate approves, then they send the bill back to the house of commons where MP's will vote on the updated bill. IF they vote and give it royal assent, the bill becomes law officially.

It needs to happen before 22 to be legalised in "summer": http://www.ourcommons.ca/en/sitting-calendar as they won't be back at the house before mid-September.

So, yes I still think tomorrow we should have c-45 at the house of commons and royal assent before July.

As I thought House Of Commons debate c-45 today 2h15 EDT, I'll keep you informed how it goes and when it's live

Yes, but it's discussed today and can go to the Senate as soon as tomorrow then go back to the house of Commons on Friday.

I'm still sure the bill will be passed in June.

It's on agenda of Monday, they did not work on Friday due to sitting till midnight on Thursday to pass C-46

The Trudeau government's representative in the Senate says the chamber will extend its session into the summer if that's what it takes to pass two new laws to regulate recreational cannabis use.

Its amazing how 'legalization' is actually making it harder for individuals to posses/grow marijuana. The fight continues!

Sooo obviously it's going to take a bit of time for everything to be in place but... is it legal? I may be misunderstanding but once it gets royal assent is it not law?

Once royal assent is done, there will be a date where laws come to effect but during that time no one is going to arrest you and you can start your seeds.

No. Once it receives Royal assent then it's up to the federal government to set a date for when the bill comes into effect. On that date you can light one in your backyard. Legally anyways.

Meanwhile Quebec set the limit for growing to zero plants and claims their law superceeds the fed law, fully intending to fight it claws and nails in court. /facepalm

I'm still going to grow regardless of what Quebec says. I've ordered everything I need from Amazon already and It's sitting in my basement waiting for me to put it all together. I'll be ordering clones from Farmhard next Monday and they'll be planted by the weekend. Suck my balls Quebec!!

Yeah well obviously everyone and their mother are going to do this but it just puts a bitter note on what should be good news for all Canadians.

I would not order Clone from FarmHard, but that my humble opinion unless you want to get that:

Aww man that sucks!!! Was it just the one or two??? I have seeds but was looking forward to trying Farmhard clones. Huge downer.
