Shatter Im getting requires higher temp. Why?

I recently got some shatter and my buddy noticed it requires a higher temp to actually vaporize. Does anyone know why this might be? I haven't noticed it but he takes HOT dabs to begin with so im confused as to why he needs to heat it more than he normally would.
