Question About Distillate

Hi all,

I am looking for clarification regarding distillate and decarboxylation.

I have heard/read that ALL distillate is decarboxylated during its production process (Activating the THC for oral ingestion). Is this true?

Some say eating distillate (on its own or mixed into food) will get you stoned, some say otherwise.

I have spoken with a popular producer of distillate (which is excellent tasting dabbed in my experience), and have correspondence with them saying their distillate is not decarbed.

In addition to this, if a distillate IS in fact fully decarbed, would it then not be fit for dabbing? (Only oral ingestion?)

I have been curious about this for some time. If anyone can offer insight I am very interested in what you have to say.

Cheers!

THC distillate should be activated and preferably Delta 9. If it's not activated that would be THCA. Personally I've never seen distillate listed as THCA, only in 99% crystaline form.

Some distillate might have more Delta 8 than Delta 9 THC which would have less psychoactive effects. Also, when eating THC most of it could pass through your system without getting in your blood which is a common mistake. Mix with something that can aid absorption such as coconut oil.

From what I gather in extraction forums, many people want to make distillate and invest in the equipment because they think it's just press a few buttons and liquid gold comes out. However few actually have the lab experience and chemistry knowledge to make it correctly.

From my knowledge distillate is decarbed and shatter is not.

For what it's worth, CE's distillate did nothing for me orally and I took up to .4 ml on an empty stomach. Dabbed it's pretty potent

Did you mix it with anything or eat it straight? You need to mix it with something fatty like coconut oil for it too digest properly.

I mixed it with hot chocolate maybe I screwed something up but it seems like edibles never work for me. I also possibly have a stomach disease so that could be why

The thing about distillate is that the process decarbs the material. The crude oil is headed under extreme vacuum to around 190-220 degrees in order to fractionate off different cannabinoids and distill the THC. Anyone who says that their distillate isn't decarbed doesn't understand the process necessary to create it.

With ingesting the distillate it's a good idea to bind the cannabinoids to a carrier oil such as coconut oil, and to use an emulsifier like lecithin to increase its absorption.

Awesome, thank you Noble Extracts and RaNdMViLnCE!

That was the answer I was looking for. I had heard that through the grapevine from some, but have also heard differently from others.

Thanks for clarifying!
