Hi folks, I was wondering if anyone can make some suggestions for their favorites MOMs that sell buds by the individual gram. I'm fairly new to the MOM world and would like to try more strains and explore what's out there, but it seems like many of the most highly regarded MOMs only sell by the ounce, and while most of the others don't sell anything smaller than a 1/4 or 1/8th ounce.

In terms of strains, I'm particularly interested in MOMs that carry high-quality indicas and indica-dominant hybrids and, at some point, I'd also like to try some of those high CBD strains I've been hearing about.

Could have been you I replied to on reddit yesterday about this, but the issue with single gram samples is that they require a lot of handling so MOMs tend to make them in advance and those dimebags are shit at keeping weed fresh. When I first started with MOMs I was trying to get 1g samples from everyone, I must have had over 30 over a few months and every single one of them was dry and terpless. As a result I got to try a bunch of awesome strains but ended ended up feeling very "meh" about all of them because none of them tasted good.

I found out going for 1/8th orders is much better for sampling... You get to get bigger buds so it helps with freshness and it's less likely they've been packed last month.

Thanks for the reply - wasn't me on reddit. Your point about dryness and handling makes a lot of sense to me, however, at this point I'm still interested in sampling a bit more widely and I don't really have the cash to buy an 1/8th of every strain I'm interested in. So, in your 1g sample explorations did you happen to come across any that were in better shape than others?

Not really, which is the point I wanted to drive with my reply. I guess weedmailed might have been the best, but still, the stuff was dry and not much fun to smoke. I have no idea how representative it was of their strains but it sure didn't make me want to buy any of it.

Weed that is too dry is a plague in the business. 1g samples pretty much guarantees deception.

You might get some offers for free samples by PM lots of MOMs are hungry for new clients. A lot of them send sizable samples.

Right on, thanks for the advice. I may have to rethink things a bit and just try the strains I'm interested in 1/8th at a time.

The MoM site HSP is known for their craft cannabis and higher end strains and will sell down to 1g quantities. They included a few with my honey oil order as free samples, all were impressive bud and traveled well in mylar bags. I don't buy single grams myself but that would be my top choice if I did and they carry CBD strains. Pictures:

those nugs look great. It's nice that they are all full 1G buds.

I also have a lower budget and will not be disappointed if any MOMs offer me free samples to write reviews! Heck I'd pay for shipping. I love writing.


What I personally like to do is get a larger amount of a strain I know I'll like, and then an 8th or two of strains I'm sampling. I'm most likely to buy 7-14 and then a couple of 8ths when I shop because of that very reason, I'm concerned about the freshness of grams. I know those are tailored towards purchasers who haven't used nearly as much or as critically as me, and simply expect to be disappointed by them more often.

Occasionally I will purchase single grams of AAAAA strains, because those are much more of an investment and I want to be confident in them before dropping a much larger stack of cash. GanjaWest appears that it will be a good newcomer option for this; they don't have any AAAAAs in stock right now but they did earlier and sold them in grams so I know I'm going to be top shelf snacking from them in a future order. Right now they have a coupon that'll give you 10% off and a free 3.5 so that's probably where I'd be going for budget grams. Discount, a freebie, and the selection's good and most of their strains just went up on the site recently so I expect it will be fresh.

I've also purchased grams of top shelf from Budmail and received decent quality, freshly packaged buds that were equal in quality to the 3.5s, 7s and 14s I've purchased from them. However, they don't have the sweet sweet free 3.5 bonus which would weigh my decision if I were going to put in a small order. Also, I pay attention to when things are added and don't buy strains that have been up for what I consider "too long". I just go buy from a different MOM if I'm unsure if a batch is old! There's so many options there's no reason not to shop around right now for whatever is important to you.
