CBD discussion

Hello folks,
I was hoping to start a discussion about CBD products!
I'm curious as to how members of the community feel about the effectiveness of CBD, as well as the preferred method of consumption (isolate, flower, oils/tincture, crumble etc.)
Personally, I find CBD to be an effective replacement for my previous medications, and am interested in how others view these products. I'm interested in hearing from both people who find CBD useful as well as those who don't.

Love CBD ! Recently within the past month started vaping isolate and find it really relaxing and calms my mind for bed . My wife has been using it for her anxiety as well and it has been working quite well for her . I do need quite a bit more to get the effects I want for the day now but its beneficial enough for me to justify the price . I also really love how it smooths out a dab of concentrate .

What type of device are you using for isolate? I haven't tried it yet myself, but I've read some positive things online.

too expensive for us, the prices are over inflated because of the trend and to getting a legal script can cost over 350$ a year.
cannabis is a wonder weed for the wealthy.

This is a valid point. Accessability is certainly a much more prominent issue when searching for quality CBD product vs. the THC alternative.
In my case I guess I can say that I'm lucky that my family physician writes my script. As such it comes as no cost to me, further my financial situation enables me to avail of compassionate pricing with my LP's. This being said however, i often am forced to choose between a CBD or THC product when making lp purchases. Frankly it is only because of MOM's that i can afford to have both type of product on hand. The quality of THC bud specificaly, is often better than lp, while being cheaper on top of it!

I'm using a box mod with a maxvapor eagle and hydrotube on top of that . It's pretty well like a Saianora but cheaper. I use the ceramic disc coil and it works great . I've also been using CBD oil I got from the natural remedy which is quite good too but not as quick acting which is why I prefer the isolate. I'll drop the links in case your interested .

I'll probably get roasted for saying this but I recently ordered CBD isolate from the states and it brought the price down considerably and I had no issue with delivery . I talked to other people who have had no problems either .

fees are driving me crazy....350$ for a renewable script... i know someone who has to pay 2k a year to grow his own..WTF legalization smells like a massive cash grab. I do not have to pay to brew my own beer or wine..

That is obscene! It's really a shame that people are trying to profit this way on a legitimate medicine.
My hopes are that the upcoming "legalization" will open the door for more suitable laws down the road. Unfortunately the current model seems to indicate that we've a long way to go before cannabis use, medical or otherwise is de-stigmatised enough for legislation to be handled properly.
I actually have an eagle as well! Got one on sale although they were sold out of the hydrotube at the time. So far im enjoying it, though I've only used it for various thc concentrates. The compatability with sai coils is pretty neat too, as i can source those locally in a pinch if i find myself needing a coil quickly.

I got from Fully Activated ..it was 150 for 7g shipped . So even with the exchange its a far better deal than anywhere in Canada . I'm tempted to make some eliquid with some or some tincture .

i just got some CBD oil to try out, for pain. Its really for my mom, she has a bad shoulder. instead of taking tablets, im getting her to try out the oil.
Ive bought the cannabis arthritis creams and they do work. Tried it on myself and her. Even made a batch of my own. works amazingly.
I hope the oil would be a good alternative for her. I will also be taking it for myself.
The oil is really 65% CBD and 12% THC. im really hoping the entourage effect of these to does some good.

I love CBDs! Right now I mainly vape flower; CBD Critical Mass & Mango Haze are my current favourites. Since incorporating CBD strains into my daily routine, I barely take NSAIDs or other anti-inflammatory drugs anymore. Before CBDs, I was using them almost daily for long periods of time (Diclofenac, Naproxen, etc., etc.).
I have a prescription for CBD oil from a LP. It's a little expensive, though: $90 for a 40mL bottle (25mg CBD per mL/2mg THC per mL). I also have a prescription for a 1:1 oil ( 12.5mg CBD per mL/12.5mg THC per mL.).
If I was to use these LP oil prescriptions without flower, that'd be at least $540/month if I don't go over 2mL/dose; not including the HST (wtf? I've never had to pay HST on prescriptions from the pharmacy). It's much cheaper for me to buy flower right now as I treat other symptoms with THC; using CBD and 1:1 drops 2x/day doesn't cover everything nor last as long as I need.
In the future, I'm hoping to experiment with making CBD oils/products to cut down on my monthly costs. But for now, I'll stick with vaping flowers and eating edibles.

CBD Critical Mass
Nice looking flower! I had a sample of cbd critical in my last HSP order, im likely going to pick up a zip come payday, its good stuff.
I really feel you on the NSAIDs, long term those bastards are awful... not sure if my stomach will ever recover from all the naproxen i've taken.
Ive had some success making oil in the past but my current living situation (apt building) isnt optimal for cooking from raw flower.. decarb will probably stink out the place haha. As such ive been paying extra for premade oil.. its not optimal, but damn that shit works wonders.

Is there? I was under the impression that CBD was CBD, regardless of which plant it was derived from.
What are the differences between Cannabis and Hemp CBD?
I've had CBD isolate from 3 different places in Canada now, and all 3 were quite different looking. 1 was a pure white powder from Cannabistoday. The stuff I have right now is from HSP, and is a yellow-ish tinted powder that doesnt seem as "loose" as the others. 3rd kind I had was crystalline more like sugar.
From what I could tell, effect was the same across the board and all had that distinct cherry flavour.

Hemp is cannabis just with low THC and high CBD. There's sativa, indica, and ruderalis (hemp). From what I've read most industrial hemp is actually sativa that's been bred for high CBD which the plant balances out by lowering its THC levels. Below 0.3% being the legal limit.
Wherever it's harvested though: CBD is CBD once isolated. I'm not sure what the advantage of crystalline versus powder is as I have CBD powder that vaproizes in a dab as if it was crystal anyways.
CBD sold in the U.S. typically comes with lab test results proving its cannabinoid, contaminants, and residual solvent levels for every batch. 99.9% powder can still have trace cannabinoids like CBN, CBG, CBC, and D9 THC which are identical to the ones found in traditional cannabis. Contaminants testing is especially important because these plants readily absorb toxins from the soil which would be appear in the final material.
I find CBD to work well for a variety of conditions. It's basically most of weed's medicinal effects without the high, it has its own relaxing feeling that seems to minimize anxiety and stress and can even be used to counteract some of the uncomfortable feeling from too much THC and minimize cravings.
I prefer CBD isolate because it is usually the lowest cost (<$40/g) and can be added to any other form of cannabis (flower, extract, tincture, distillate, lotion, etc.) to make a full spectrum experience or used on its own. CBD is cheap and will only get cheaper, it's being mass produced all over the world and something like 90% of the industrial hemp in Canada is being destroyed as they're only allowed to use the stalk and leaf apparently.

I'm assuming most of the moms are acquiring the CBD from the states anyhow so we may as well order from there too and save . If the prices were reasonable like around 30 -40 a g I would probably just order here but I see prices like 70 and 80 dollars a gram at some on some of these sites and it's just downright taking advantage of people. It's like 3-400% markup . If I'm getting it for 21 bucks shipped a gram on the quarter from the states they must be gettin ot dirt cheap by the pound or kg . I know they have to make money but these guys are doubling ot tripling profits

Yes it's quite the mark up from most Canadian sellers unfortunately. We can't assume they got it from the U.S. as the cheapest CBD comes from europe and asia which is often toxic due to improper growing or extracting conditions.
That's why it's suggested to only buy CBD with lab test results proving it's cannabinoid, contaminants and residual solvent levels. In the U.S. this is normal because both synthetic (think: spice) and toxic CBD is still common despite it being legal in all 50 states. Unfortunately we do not get that luxury here most of the time.
So not only are MoMs over charging for it to the point where hard drugs off the street would be cheaper, but they can't even prove it's the clean CBD that's worth buying. This is why I also settled on outside sources despite the risk. Canada is quite far behind in the CBD market compared to the rest of the world which is strange since we have so much cannabis and hemp growing here.
